2009-12-08 - Motors for 30 subway trains to Spanish train car builder CAF
Västerås, Sweden, December 4, 2009 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has received an order to deliver modular medium power traction motors for 30 subway trains. The trains will operate the new Kadikoy–Kartal line in Istanbul, Turkey. The customer is the Spanish train car builder Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) who will supply the trains. ABB will deliver the motors continuously beginning in fall 2010. ABB won the order due to its competitive offer and modular motor concept, which enables short delivery time, customized design and easy maintenance. The order confirms ABB’s position as a leading independent supplier of traction motors.
